2017 - NEW SINGLE - WILLIAM WHITE “SPEED DON’T MATTER” feat. Noa White (26.05.2017)

William White and his family moved away last year from the Berner Oberland Mountains for the Sea of the Spanish coast. Longing for some changes, new challenges, looking for new opportunities. Between solo gigs in Switzerland and Spain, as well as adapting to a new life, learning a new language, getting used to the Spanish ways of working, or making new contacts in the Spanish Music scene, William White is in the production of his 5th solo Album to be released later on this year.

“SPEED DON’T MATTER” A first single recorded & mixed by William White in his new Spanish home recording studio. This song was written for Noa. William White’s 14 years old daughter, who is going through the complexity of the adolescence. Wanting to be all grown up right now... Everything is possible and impossible…. During the recording, it became obvious that Noa’s voice had to be part of it. With her performance, she gives the song all its meaning and emotions. This song is for Noa and this is her very first recording session. We hope you enjoy it.

2014 - Album "Open Country" marks the ten-year successful DIY career!

William White is an independent artist/musician/composer/producer and performer, think Bob Marley meets Ben Harper and you’re not far off the sound that he produces. After years of being a regular fixture in the Swiss music scene, William is finally starting to achieve international recognition for his music.

William was born in Barbados but currently lives and works in Switzerland.  Over the last 10 years, he and his wife have been running their own independent label from home. Every album has made the Top 10 and gone on to sell sold gold in Switzerland. His newest album OPEN COUNTRY entered at #2 in The Swiss album Charts, second only to Pharrel Williams.

OPEN COUNTRY was recently released digitally in the UK and received some great feedback and support from the key players in the UK scene. William had interviews with David Rodigan on 1xtra and Radio 2, a live session with Robert Elms on BBC London, and an interview for Echoes with legendary journalist John Masouri.

The New albumis a collaboration between William White, Devon Bradshaw (former bassist of Burning Spear) and Ian Coleman (guitarist of Ziggy Marley). The recording of the album took place in their home studio in Portland, Jamaica. The backyard studio setting far away from the hussle of major studios on the island give the music real organic roots feel.

WILLIAM WHITE ALBUM “OPEN COUNTRY” enters at #2 the Swiss Album Charts...Independently!
So what exactly is Independent
Independent means that for the past 10 years, William and his wife Galia, have successfully released 3 GOLD Selling albums, 2 of which went top 10, from their living room so to speak. With this 4th album “Open Country” they Celebrate 10 years of independent music and again success…
“Open Country” enters the Swiss Album Charts at #2! Not bad for home grown…

But there is more; “Open Country” is not distributed by any major distributor. You will not find it on the shelf anywhere in town. The double CD sold exclusively by one of Switzerland’s leading internet shops, namely cede.ch. “To avoid a complicated distribution deal”, it was decided to go directly to “…one good shop. We deliver directly to them … they deliver throughout all of Switzerland… it also means our fans get the CD for a decent price… that’s Independent“ .

The double CD features not only the 10 track album with grooves recorded in Jamaica then finished off in “The Wagon”, William White’s home studio im Berner Oberland… There is also a live CD, a bootleg off the 2012 Freedom tour with “The Emergency”. “A concert is a different story” says William, “It’s very different from the album… and we know we also have fans who really like it live…”

Digital distribution is done by iMusicianDigital, a trusted partner for several years now. iMusicianDigital is an acknowledged, independent, digital distribution… worldwide…

“Open Country” is now the 3rd top 10 album in a row for the independent label William White. “Yes. It is rewarding.” Says Galia when asked, but don’t be misled, “It’s been a really exhausting year,” they both shake their heads and laugh. But it’s been worth it.

William White was born on the 15th of June 1972 on a small farm in the hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, on the Island of Barbados.

Mom loved Beethoven ... Dad loved quiet ... William loved to sing.

It was the time when a ride through the country roads would be filled with music; Bob Marley and the Wailers booming at the rum shop on the corner, Marvin Gaye out of the window of the house a little further on, Sam Cooke, then Curtis Mayfield. The old folks were listening to Nat King Cole, Harry Belafonte, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, and a Church Congregation could get louder than anybody's HiFi. Music was everywhere and although he didn't quite understand what it meant yet, William was hooked ...

PRESS: "William White is considered an important and established Act in the Swiss music scene. With his melodious songs filled with strong messages - it's about love, freedom, justice and respect. As once Bob Dylan, Neil Young or Bob Marley, William White strives to make the content of his music his priority, without sacrificing any quality. William White and his band are one of the best live acts in the country!"(Various Press 2013)

Other Highlights: William White's solo appearances as supporting act for Ben Harper in Geneva and Basel, Xavier Rudd in Zurich, Gabriel Rios in Paris and Amsterdam, Archive in Winterthur, John Butler Trio in Zurich, Shivaree in Zurich and recently Simple Minds BEA Expo Bern, or opening with his 8tet for Ziggy Marley in Lugano, Tessin. (We had to turn down a few opening Act because of our own tours: Tracy Chapman, Bob Dylan and Counting Crows!)
